Did you miss the union and professional dues deduction?
RefundSift checks your Canada tax situation for the union and professional dues deduction. Here is what it is, in plain language, with links to the official CRA pages.
Who qualifies
- You paid annual union dues, professional board dues required by law, or professional or malpractice insurance needed to keep your professional status.
- The amount is often in box 44 of your T4 slip or on a receipt.
How much
The full dues you paid are deductible on line 21200. Initiation fees and pension charges do not count.
How far back you can claim
You can ask CRA to change a past return online or with Form T1-ADJ; CRA says a refund cannot be issued for an adjustment request made more than 10 calendar years after the end of the tax year.
Check if you missed it
Upload your T4, Notice of Assessment or other slips, or answer a few questions. The preview is free.
