Did you miss the Canada workers benefit?
RefundSift checks your Canada tax situation for the Canada workers benefit. Here is what it is, in plain language, with links to the official CRA pages.
Who qualifies
- You work and earn a low income (individuals and families).
- You claim it on line 45300 with Schedule 6. There is also a disability supplement.
How much
It is a refundable tax credit, so you can get it even if you owe no tax. The amount depends on your working income and family situation; see CRA for the current thresholds.
How far back you can claim
You can ask CRA to change a past return online or with Form T1-ADJ; CRA says a refund cannot be issued for an adjustment request made more than 10 calendar years after the end of the tax year.
Check if you missed it
Upload your T4, Notice of Assessment or other slips, or answer a few questions. The preview is free.
